Frequently asked questions

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a natural approach to health and well-being. It is based on the knowledge that all your bodily functions are ultimately controlled by your nervous system. Millions of instructions flow from your brain, down your spinal cord and out to every organ and tissue of your body. Any interference to this communication results in a breakdown to the body’s function. The goal of chiropractic care is to correct these areas in order to allow effective and efficient function of the body.

What is a Subluxation
(joint misalignment or restriction)?

A Vertebral Subluxation Complex (Subluxation) is an abnormal movement of the spine which will interfere with the nerve messages between the brain, nervous system and the body. Subluxations negatively affects your brain and nervous system which controls your muscle balance, posture, balance and the production of important body chemicals and hormones.

What is an adjustment?

An adjustment is a very specific force given to your spine to help your body correct a subluxation. There are many ways to “adjust” the spine. Some methods use the doctor’s hands, an instrument, a special table or the force of gravity.

Do I need a referral?

A referral is not necessary. Contact us if you have any questions.

Do you accept ACC?

YES, we are ACC registered. We provide ACC to anyone who has received an injury or accident, such as a slip or fall, heavy lifting, sports or work injury.

What should I expect in my initial consultation?

Your medical and health history will be discussed in detail. A full examination will be performed so that we can make an accurate diagnosis.

The initial consultation usually takes 40-60 min depending on your current health issues.

From the assessment, we create a care plan. If other health issues are identified that are outside chiropractic care, we will refer you to an appropriate health professional.

What if I need further investigations?

Our location allows us to refer you for x-rays, ultrasound etc. The radiology services is located in the same building as our clinic which will be convenient for you.

If you are eligible for ACC, the cost of plain film X-rays is largely covered by ACC.
